Youth work changes lives

Today sees the launch of a Hall Aitken report produced for YouthLink Scotland highlighting the value of Youth Work in Scotland. Based on an extensive review of published research and some new survey work, we were able confirm that Youth Work in Scotland delivers at least £7 in value for every £1 of public spend. Perhaps more significantly youth work has made a significant difference to the lives of 1 in 10 adults.

The report is being launched as part of the National Youth Work Conference and Expo in Edinburgh on January 27th. There is still considerable research needed to provide more precise results – and to identify just what elements of youth work make the most difference. But the new report lays the groundwork to help YouthLink Scotland achieve one of the key goals of the National Youth Work Strategy – "to recognise the value of youth work".

The report builds on work Hall Aitken has completed over the last decade with hundreds of youth work projects and national agencies.
